This week in the Lancet the Editorials are on vaccines for children, removing obstacles for UK women in medicine and mental health care for the elderly.
The Articles are on using darusentan to reduce blood pressure in those with treatment resistant hypertension, maintenance therapy with pemetrexed for non-small-cell lung cancer and the effects of improvements in community based drug provision on reducing maternal mortality in sub-Saharan Africa. These are accompanied by Comments on resistant hypertension, maintenance therapy in lung cancer and reducing maternal mortality.
The World Report is on US criticisms of European health systems, the US allowing HIV positive travellers to enter the country and the sex ratio imbalance in Vietnam. Also of interest to global health this week is a Comment on Japan’s revision of Organ Transplant Law and a Perspective on living with hunger.
Also of interest this week is a Comment on the new uniform format for disclosure of competing interests in ICMJE journals.
