This week in the Lancet, the Editorials are on issues with screening, healthcare for migrants in the UK and the myths about soft drinks.
The Articles are on a trial of zoledronic acid and risedronate for preventing and treating glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, three Phase I/II studies of using avotermin to improve skin scarring, treating resistant hypertension with renal sympathetic denervation and an analysis of data on fire-related deaths in India in 2001. These articles are accompanied by Comments on the HORIZION trial, wound healing through life, management of resistant hypertension and the gender inequalities in Indian fire-related deaths.
The World Health Report is on the USA’s shift away from the War on Drugs and reviving healthcare in Liberia. Also of interest to global health this week are perspectives on contaminated water in Ecuador and monitoring avian influenza in China.
