If I understand correctly your suggestion is that those in the former group may lack the self-confidence, reliability and self-confidence necessary for success in future lives as clinicians...

Whilst not wishing to put me and my type down too much, I have to wonder whether you're correct... or whether those are exactly the skills that a high-acheiving, yet cautious individual (the former type) holds within them...?
